It's Open House night and our teachers are showing their technology saavy as they put the finishing touches on their presentations. Teachers at Wamogo are using Prezi, wikis, Edmodo and Sliderocket (to name a few) to share course content and classroom routines. They're incorporating parents by sharing logins, inviting them to groups and sharing links to connect to class resources. Teachers are challenging themselves to use the technology in ways that they may not have previously attempted.
These Open House presentations are exciting and reflect the technology that our teachers are using in their classes.
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) sets technology standards for students, teachers and administrators. The standards for teachers are as follows:
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Reflecting on these standards for teachers, it is clear we are on the right path.We have come a long way as a staff. Last year the goal was to have everyone use their Smartboards for presentations at Open House. This year people are setting their own technology goals for themselves. Stay tuned for more postings as we strive to continously improve our skills in technology integration!
